M45 - The Pleiades Cluster
This is a single 40 minute exposure with the Meade LXD75 8" Schmidt
Newtonian.
The image was captured at prime focus with my 26 year old
Olympus OM-1 and Fujichrome Provia 400F slide film.
The scope was
manually guided with an Orion 910mm f/l guidescope piggybacked on the LXD75 tube rings.
Fujichrome 400F Provia is an
excellent film for deep sky astrophotography.
It is a fine grain film
whose colors are very well balanced, and has excellent blue response as
evidenced in this image.
This photo can be found on page 43 of the 2007 Meade catalog.
