    need help w/ DSI-II-C

hello guys,   well I bought the DSI Pro it works great but I don't know how to do all the color processing. so I bought me a DSI-C and it worked good you could see it building the picture on every 30 sec. shot.  so I thought I have to have the DSI-II C its got to be great.  well I know its me because the I was better than the II.  so I know I'm doing something wrong. I'm using the 12'' LX200 GPS- polar mounted.  I'll tell you the problems I'm having and see if ya'll can help me.  I hooked up the II just like the pro and the I.  but on the II.  I'll use m 51 as a example. on the screen of the pro. perfect black back ground with the galaxie very bright and you could see it build the picture with every shot.  the DSI C well the galaxie was red with red specks in the background with 1/2 red stars.  now the Color II it had a very snowy background with all different colored specks and all you could see was the center brightness of the galaxie.  now all this is on the live camera. after it takes the first shot it all the snow goes away but you can't see it building the photo like the other cameras do.  i'm using 30 and 42 sec. shots.  tell me I'm doing something wrong please. and also just so I can see.  would some one put some photos on here straight out of the camera before processing so I can see what they  are supossed to look like.  Thank ya'll very much. Hi, Andy

the one-shot color camera will deliver lower resolution & lower sensitivity than the pro. It will look much "snowier" in preview images. For some reason, the optimum slider settings to get a good view of the image as it stacks are very different from the pro - you will need to crank up the shadow enhance for sure, and probably the contrast a little as well.

    Re: need help w/ DSI-II-C

I frequently use a DSI for color and a DSI Pro for luminance and this method works quite well. I've found that Autocontrast on the DSI tends to set the black point a tad too high which could cause some of what you're seeing. Try turning Autocontrast off and lowering the balck point 1,000-2,000 counts. I also save all of my uncombined images as FITS3P so I can re-stack and re-process them using Envisage offline.

I almost never use the autocontrast but I use the custom settings
also sometimes gain settings give me a bad preview image

    NB.I just bought a Dsi 2 colour can't wait : )!
