    Linux control for DSI Cameras

    Hi all,
I am trying to start a project to build a piece of Linux software to control the Meade DSI, I have a DSI Pro II and I am hopping to do a little bit of hacking this summer to get a test version running, if any one is interested let me know.

I too want to reverse engineer the DSI, but I want to make it works in Windows with a software I wrote. Maybe we could exchange informations.

    Hi Aaron,
I am just starting to learn and use Linux (Gentoo) and am very interested in your project - I also have a DSI Pro II, as well as the original DSI Pro, for use on my Explorer 150 telescope, on an HEQ5 mount.
If you need any testing done, I would be happy to help out - but cannot (yet!) offer any programming skills - one day maybe!
Would love to hear how your project is coming on
    cheers

I've been able to capture picture and control exposure with my own software on Windows. I used DsiDevice.dll that come with Autostar Envisage. Anyway, i you want to know how I did it, just ask! I can send you my source code.

Heck yeah I would like to see that source code!

I just ordered the DSI from Anacortes now that it is marked down to $120. A low cost Linux autoguider is just what I need. My email is

    What about kstars and INDI?
I have not tried either of these, but they look promising.

Re: Linux control for DSI Cameras

    Hi Aaron,

I would be very interested in a Linux/DSI astropic capture program. I have been a Linux/FreeBSD supporter for many years and it grates me to have to keep Window$ on a computer just to take astropics with my DSIc.

Not sure I could do much development but I'd be available for testing...

Was there any progress on it? I'm also interested and I may be able to contribute (testing, debuging and coding). I have a DSI I, and I would love not to have to reboot in order to use it.
