    LPI/DSI won't connect

I'm seeking assistance on this issue. Here's some recent communications.

    Re: DSI/LPI Won't connect

This is what you are going to have to do. Its time consuming and a bit tough if your not familiar with the registry. I helped out someone else with a DSI problem recently and this fixed everything.

Go to Start Button/Run...type in      regedit         hit enter. click ok

    goto:

Local machine/Software/SONIX. click to see if you have this one. If so      DELETE IT.      This is very old. For the LPI.

Try also HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Meade Inst       DELETE IT

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Meade    DELETE IT

This should clear the computer completely of all associated files. With all your cameras and Meade software. It should not delete your photos. You may want to back them up just in case.

Go to  add/remove in the control panel  and remove anything associated with meade cameras and LPI. You can also go directly into the folder under My computer/drive C: (or whatever its under)/program files/Meade and make sure its all gone there.

Once this is done I would go to the meade site and download the NEWEST software version. Once installed--restart computer. THEN  plug in the LPI.  Run the programs to get it installed. Restart your computer and attach the DSI do the same thing and restart. Lets see what happens from here. You can email me at pinkflyd34@... if you need more help.

    Re: DSI/LPI Won't connect

Tried sending a private e-mail as you suggested, but yahoo may have
deemed it spam, and you may have missed it. So here's the scoop.

Tried your suggestion (twice), still get the same error message that
the required section was not found in the INF. I've noticed that the
CAPITAL INF is under "WINDOWS" and the lower inf is in WINNT. The
dsiusb is in the inf, not the INF. The first install was done with AS5
and Env 7.05, but noticed that AS5 didn't install the LPI Driver like
it does from the disk. Didn't work. So cleaned it up again, then on
the second install, I used the Mead Autostar Disk that came with the
DSI first, then installed the 5 version, and Envisage 7.05. Also,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Meade does not exist in the Registry.
However,HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Meade Inst does. This is really
    frustrating.
    Any other suggestions appreciated.

    Hi,

I would try going to www.autostarsuite.net and look up in the forum section LPI Driver. There is a link there for the driver. The correct one should be from about 2005 or so. Its not new. The only other thing is to go through the registry again and look at the individual files under software and look for DSI or LPI or Meade. That is a good site tobelong too. Lots of good help there too. You can also try joining the Meade_DSI group in yahoo. Search the group for drivers. It should give you a lot to look at.

Have you removed the software through the add/remove program? try that first if you didnt and then look into the regiustry. Sorry your having problems, but meade software is notorious for it. Let me know what happens or if I can help in any other way.

    **END**Previous Communications

Ok, so I'm here now. I do have the '05 LPI Dirver, and the DSI "Update" Driver. I have not tried his latest suggestion to do the "add/remove" prior to the registry "clean".

So, If any others may be willing to lend a helpfull hints..i'm all ears....
